The Causes Of Drug Addiction.

I do know what lead me to do drugs and alcohol. It was the same thing that lead me to make many poor choices.

Why would a teenager use alcohol or drugs? There are many reasons that lead one to drink or use drugs. Especially when they are not fully aware of the choice.

Why can't we help it? Drug and alcohol use is as bad as it ever was.

I was raised like most kids. I could have not asked for better parents and three wonderful sisters.

I was very sick at birth, but I made it. I could not imagine how tough it must have been for my parents at that time. So I will admit I was pampered and spoiled, especially by my dad. He was my hero!

I got away with a lot of wrong stuff. I also learned to be dishonest cause it was helpful in troubled times.

I am not saying this was the big factor in my life, that lead to the causes of drug addiction. This was the beginning of the root of the problem.

I believe the dishonesty was a seed that I planted and it became a part of my person.

When you begin to stretch the truth in other words lie, it gets easier each time. If you feel that you gain from not being honest then it does not seem so wrong.

When you lie it affects you, and its ripple effect may cause severe problems in the near future. It also may cause many others to suffer needlessly.

Lying, same as drugs, becomes something you depend on.

You are being dishonest with you and this leads to disrespecting yourself. You cannot disrespect yourself, and at the same time truly respect anyone else.

If you truly respect you for you, you will in turn gain respect from others. Respect is gained, not given. It is an honor to be respected.

I know how tough it is at times to be honest, it can be overwhelming. You can not add to the truth or take away from it. The truth will hold up, you will be rewarded, but a lie has no strength.

You have to do some soul searching to uncover how honest or respectful you are with yourself.

It is a part of you that you can not see with the eye. We often search ourselves by sight, this is a very narrow way to understand yourself.

Patterns of behavior are learned and embedded in us early in life.

You do not want to have to go through treatment with your child it can be overwhelming for so many. Please read my page Coping With Drug Addiction, it may help you understand the devastation on family, friends, and others.

It all boils down to the parents, teachers, and guardians that fertilize the child's personality.

You can not only depend on sources outside of you. But you have sources to rely on to help build your child's future.

For instance you have child care, especially these days when both parents must work in order to survive.

Child care can contribute to helping these children build good personalities, by teaching the importance of self honesty and self respect. This will go a long way in their future choices.

I understand there are many reasons for the causes of drug addiction. But the basics of these two personality traits were huge for my past choices.
