Heroin Disabled By Choice
Is Written Through the Hindsight of my Past as a heroin Addict.

My site is directed to parents, guardians, mentors, and teachers about the future choice a child may face in regards to drugs and alcohol abuse.

I come from a great family and I believe I was raised like most children. Being an addict of 30 plus years, is not a result of how I was raised but parents can help make a dramatic difference. I knew it was wrong to drink, and do drugs.

I have studied my past as a heroin addict. What may have helped me to understand the choice to use drugs or alcohol the first time? Your child must know; There Is No Life As An Addict

Preparation and education from an early age, will help raise a child's awareness of how drugs and alcohol can take over the mind, body, and soul. Telling a child drugs and alcohol are wrong and dangerous is often not enough.

The years leading up to the possibility of that first choice are a critical time in a child's life. They absorb everything like a sponge. These are the years the parents, and care takers of children must prepare and educate themselves to provide their children with this priceless knowledge.

When it comes to the young people it is live and learn to the tenth degree. The parents, loved ones, guardians, and teachers help prepare and move the kids along. That helps them make good choices.

The choice to use drugs or alcohol is likely in their future. This is a choice we must focus on. With little education and preparation in regards to this subject, your child's future may be similar to my past.

When it comes to drugs and alcohol it's often fatal after the very first choice. Some are disabled for life or die upon their first choice to use drugs. Some believe it's a helper in stressful times. Some just have good experiences and continue on using, some do not. There are floods of reasons teens choose to use drugs.

We cannot afford to just teach kids drugs are wrong and dangerous. Their first choice may be their last. Through the knowledge of parents and educators we must learn to teach them as early as possible. This will differ from child to child.

I believe there are more teens today using heroin than ever before in our schools. The heroin today is very powerful and kids are snorting and smoking it, believing it is less harmful and less addictive than injecting the drug. This belief is false.

What would have helped me say," NO," to drugs 30 plus years ago? What will help the children today realize yes to alcohol or drugs is not an option? Good education needs to be established as a must take course in our schools. It needs to start as early as the first grade or preschool.

I tried it, and I know many others that have. Some are lucky like me, others are dead, disabled, in prison, or still active addicts. They were kids just like yours, full of promise, talent, love, they were special, we are all special.

Drugs have no respect for age young or old. The only respect drug use offers is disrespect. The first lie that comes from drug use is, to believe it adds value or I felt better about myself due to drug use. Once a teen thinks alcohol or drugs help in any situation it is difficult to save them.

I have never seen where drugs make a person better, at sports, at work, at study, at parties, at driving, talking and so on. Whenever one uses drugs it takes away mental and physical abilities. It kills the soul.

I am now beginning to see my worth, and feel life like I never had. It all stopped when I started alcohol and drugs. There are emotions I feel now that should have been developing from the time I started using.

As a former heroin addict my life is starting to make sense. I am now beginning to understand life, the good and bad days.

There Is No Life As An Addict

We need to help these children understand in more depth about alcohol and drug abuse. Lets prepare and educate them early on. We are all in this together.
